Back in the work shop, chasing steel in the river.

There are conversations that introduce you to a whole different world of ideas and view points. A call about building a net introduced me to the Japanese style of Tenkara fishing. I have admired Japanese design and their respect for hand craft. I hope this design reflects that aesthetic.
For this net is I use the highly firgured maples, birds eye, curly maple and bear claw. Every piece of wood is different and so each net is unique. This style features a 9 x 9 inch hoop. ( about 32 inch circumference hoop) and longer handle. The handle which are slightly longer than the typical Western trout net, is about 12inch in length. This landing net is good for protecting the tip of a bamboo rod as well for Tenkara style fishing. There is variation in final pricing depending on wood selected. ($20-30)
This fly fishing net style is also available in a variety of woods, hoop shapes and sizes. These nets feature a soft nylon catch and release bag. I find that ghost style net bags do not work well in smaller net frames. All nets are signed and numbered.
There is a $100 refundable deposit, with up to a 12 month wait time. I will email you for confirmation of details.
